along highway 181 - Sunizona, Arizona. (Cochise County)
May 23, 1993: The Day they Disappeared
Danielle attended church with her five younger siblings on Sunday morning, May 23, 1993. Afterwards, her mother asked if she would like to take a walk to the local RV store to purchase cigarettes for Danielle’s father, John 'Jack' Pitcher. The mother and daughter, Dorothy and Danielle, left their home in Sunizona, Arizona at approximately 1 p.m. and began the 3 mile walk to the RV Park Store that resided on the corner of highway 666 (now highway 191) and Highway 181 in Cochise County, Arizona. Along their route, they stopped at the house of one of Dorothy’s older daughters and asked if she would like to come along. She declined but told her mother to stop by on their way home and she would join them for dinner. This was the last time anyone would speak to Dorothy and Danielle ever again.
**Someone knows what happened to them!**
Neither Danielle nor her mother have been seen since that Sunday afternoon, May 23rd, 1993. This is now a criminal murder investigation. During the initial response to their disappearance in 1993, the police noticed what appeared to be their footprints at the sisters house, where it is said that Dorothy and Danielle had stopped along their way to the store. Also, a search dog was called in. The dog picked up their scent coming from the RV Park store and followed along the route they would have taken home: highway 181. The scent was dropped at the same location they were last seen: close to the road, along highway 181 at the S-curve, about 1.5 miles from their home.
Jack Pitcher, Dorothy's husband of 27 years, was ruled out as a suspect after he passed two polygraphs. John Pitcher passed away in 1998.
Jack and Dorothy had twelve children together. Five of the children, including Danielle, were still residing at the home in Sunizona, Arizona in 1993 with their parents.
