In Dedication to Dorothy & Danielle Pitcher. Missing Since May 23, 1993, Sunizona, AZ
Hi, my name is Dawn Pitcher.
I am the founder of the Missing Pitchers Foundation, a not for profit group, to aid in the search for information that will lead to the conviction of those responsible for the murders of my mother, Dorothy Pitcher and my little sister, Danielle Pitcher, 1993, in Cochise County, Arizona.
My journey has continued for 30 years. It has been a long journey filled with many ups and downs, as my cause is in finding justice for the murders of my mother and sister, and in search of their remains to finally lay them to rest.
It’s been tough, but the toughest years were not my teen years, it’s was not my adolescence, it was during my early twenties when I had my life taken from me. By the time I was able to leave home and be me, not one of 17, everything in my life changed and was ripped away. After May 23rd, 1993, my focus had to remain on finding my mom and baby sister, to take care of my dad, and help in raising my younger siblings. I was thrust back into a life I never had the chance to leave.
After the news that my mother and sister had been kidnapped, with my father falling apart, I picked up the torch that no one else would touch and began my search for justice. I have interviewed for television shows, talks shows, news interviews and articles, rally’s, walks, organized events, etc.
I’ve worked my ass off for the past 26 years. At night, all I did was try to find out what happened. I was constantly on the telephone with the police, the locals, family; all day, all night. As much as possible, I fly back and forth to Arizona to meet with investigators and local news stations to keep the case alive.
Through the years, it’s taken a toll, not just on my family, but ‘MY FAMILY’. Every one of my siblings have lived their lives, and they continue. I live my life and raise my children, but I raise them under an umbrella. One in which they’ll never have as much freedom, as I fear for them. I know what can happen because of the research I’ve done for the past 26 years. Yet they have grown to understand and respect me for it. It saddens me that I’ve taken away a care-free childhood. I’d like to give them back their freedom. Kids need to be kids. I’d like my children to be able to walk down the sidewalk and when someone says hello, they are able to respond and not ignore for the fear of strangers. Maybe the next generation will have a stronger sense of security, but not me, not with my own.
My goal is to find out what happened to my mother and sister, to bring peace to my family and help us all find closure. They are more than just a missing poster, they are a mother and sister, they are Nana Dotty and Auntie Danielle. Because we all deserve a peace of mind that will only come when we find those responsible and hold them accountable for their crimes; we deserve to know the truth and we also deserve a place to mourn. Right now, we mourn them in our hearts and in our souls, but the grieving process will never be over. Until we are able to lay them to rest, our grief is never ending.
Since the very beginning, there have many police officers, detectives, and investigators. Within the last several years, the investigative team has grown immensely and through all the ups and downs, new doors have opened, and the case continues to move forward. With the new leads that have come to light, the case remains an open murder investigation giving officers new motivation to bring peace to my family.
Thank you for your interest in Missing Pitchers.
